    It's hard 2a best friend isn't around. Maybe when she/he moves to a 3school. You may feel lonely at break. You want 4 new friends. But 5 do you make them? Maybe everybody 6 their friends. But there's always room for more friends.

    Look around your classroom. And think about who you'd like to play 7at break. Look for chances8 hi to them, smile, and be friendly. Offer to help them when they are in trouble. Invite somebody 9 with you or say" Do you want to sit here?" in the dinning hall. Say "Hi, can I play, 10?" or just join in. If you have difficulty 11 this, ask your teachers for help. Teachers are usually 12 at matching up friends.

    The best way to make friends is to be 13 friend. Be kind, say nice things and help others. Soon you 14 more new friends. You might still miss that special best friend. But when you meet each other again, you 15 talk about something you didn't have before she /he left. You can introduce her/him to your new friends!

    Joy was working in a factory far away from his home. One day he wanted to send a(n) 1 to his wife. But he could not read or 2, and in the daytime he had to work. It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could and it could go no further.

    So the man decided to help the butterfly. He cut off the remaining bit of the cocoon so that the butterfly could come out easily. But to his surprise, the butterfly got a heavy body and very small wings when it came out of the cocoon.

    The man continued to watch the butterfly because he expected that the body would grow smaller at any moment and the wings would become larger and be able to fly. But neither happened! In fact, the butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling (爬) around with a heavy body and small wings. It was never able to fly.

    The man was in his kindness, but he did not understand the nature rules. Before the butterfly came out of the cocoon, fluid (流体) from its body must be forced into its wings, and then it would be ready for flying. It must have a hard struggle (拼搏) to get through the small opening to get its freedom from the cocoon.

    Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our life. If God allowed us to go through our life without any difficulties, it would make us fail. We would not be as strong as we could have been; we could never fly.

    A study into how lazy British people are has found more than half of the adults are so lazy that they'd catch the lift rather than climb two flights of stairs.

    Just over 2,000 people were quizzed by independent researchers in the Britain's largest health center. The results were very surprising.

    About one in six people who were asked said if their control was broken, they would continue watching the same channel rather than get up.

    More than one third of those asked said they would not run to catch a bus. Worryingly, of 654 respondents(被调查对象) with children, 64% said they were often too tired to play with them.

    We know that it's no wonder that one in six children in the UK are very fat before they start school.

    Dr Sarah, Dauncey, medical director of the centre, said, "People need to get fitter, not just for their own health, but for their families, friends and pets, too"

    "If we don't start to take control of this problem, a whole generation will become too unfit to perform even the most basic tasks."

    And Scotland's largest city, Glasgow, was shamed as the laziest city in the UK, with 75% asked thinking they do not get enough exercise, followed by Birmingham and Southampton, both with 67%.

    So there are some problems for the National Health Service, where fatness-related(相关的) illnesses such as heart disease and cancer have been on an increase for the past 40 years and are costing billions of pounds every year.

    Are people less happy or happier when they get older? If you answer is "happier", then you are right, based on a study published five years ago. It found that people generally become happier and experience less worry after age fifty. In fact, it found that by the age of eighty-five, people are happier with their life than they were at eighteen.

    The findings came from a Gallup survey of more than three hundred and forty thousand adults in the United States in 2008. At that time, the people were between the ages of eighteen and eighty-five.

    Arthur stone in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science at Stony Brook University in New York led the study. His team found that levels of stress were the highest among adults between the ages of twenty-two and twenty-five. Stress levels dropped sharply after people reached their fifties.

    Levels of happiness were the highest among the kids and those in their early seventies.

    The survey also found that men and women have similar emotional patterns as they grow older. However, women at all ages reported more sadness, stress and worry than men did.

    So why would happiness increase with age? One theory is that, as people get older, they become more thankful for what they have and have better control of their emotions. They also spend less time thinking about bad experiences.

My "perfect holiday"

    Henry was a bus driver in a big city and he worked very hard.        He usually went to the seaside, but one year he saw an advertisement in a newspaper. "Enjoy country life. Spend a few weeks at West Hill Farm. Good food. Fresh air! Horse riding! Walking! Camping! Cheap and interesting."

    "      " he thought. "I'll spend a month at West Hill Farm. I think I can enjoy horse riding, walking and camping. They'll make a change from sitting by the seaside and water sports."

           In the letter he said that he would like to spend all of July there. Then on the first day of July, he left for West Hill Farm.

    But four days later, he returned home.

    "What was wrong with West Hill Farm?" his best friend, Ed, asked him. "Didn't you enjoy country life?"

    " "Country life was very good," Henry said "      "

    "Oh. What problem?"

    "Well," he said" The first day I was there a sheep died, and we had roast mutton for dinner.'

    "What's wrong with that?" Ed asked. "Fresh meat is the best."

    "It's good, but on the second day a cow died, and we had roast beef for dinner."

    "Lucky you!"

    "You don't understand, "Henry said."       and we had roast pork for dinner. "

    "A different kind of meat every day," Ed said loudly. "And you are complaining!"

    "Let me finish, "Henry said." On the fourth day the farmer died, and I didn't dare to stay for dinner!"
