One day a man found a cocoon (茧) of a butterfly in the forest. He sat there for several hours and watched the butterfly. Suddenly a small opening appeared, and the butterfly made its great effort to force its body through that little hole. Then it seemed to stop making any progress. It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could and it could go no further.

So the man decided to help the butterfly. He cut off the remaining bit of the cocoon so that the butterfly could come out easily. But to his surprise, the butterfly got a heavy body and very small wings when it came out of the cocoon.

The man continued to watch the butterfly because he expected that the body would grow smaller at any moment and the wings would become larger and be able to fly. But neither happened! In fact, the butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling (爬) around with a heavy body and small wings. It was never able to fly.

The man was in his kindness, but he did not understand the nature rules. Before the butterfly came out of the cocoon, fluid (流体) from its body must be forced into its wings, and then it would be ready for flying. It must have a hard struggle (拼搏) to get through the small opening to get its freedom from the cocoon.

Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our life. If God allowed us to go through our life without any difficulties, it would make us fail. We would not be as strong as we could have been; we could never fly.

(1)What was the butterfly doing at the beginning of the story? (1)
A . It was crawling around quietly on the ground. B . It was flying among the trees in the forest. C . It was trying to make a cocoon for itself. D . It was struggling to get out of it 's cocoon.
(2)The man cut off the remaining bit of the cocoon _______. (2)
A . to take the butterfly home B . to help the butterfly come out easily C . to kill the butterfly D . to stop the butterfly growing bigger
(3)What do you think of the man? (3)
A . Patient but cruel. B . Careful and wise. C . Kind but unwise. D . Brave and funny.
(4)What does the last paragraph (段落) tell us? (4)
A . Struggles are sometimes necessary in our life. B . Nothing is difficult if we put our heart into it. C . Every good deed will come back with good result. D . The greatest happiness in the world is to help others.
(5)What is the best title for the story? (5)
A . The Love for the Cocoon B . The Joy of Helping Each Other C . The Lesson of the Cocoon D . The Expectation for the Butterfly

Would you eat a ready meal from the fridge rather than cook by yourself? Have you been doing Internet shopping rather than going to the store?

A study into how lazy British people are has found more than half of the adults are so lazy that they'd catch the lift rather than climb two flights of stairs.

Just over 2,000 people were quizzed by independent researchers in the Britain's largest health center. The results were very surprising.

About one in six people who were asked said if their control was broken, they would continue watching the same channel rather than get up.

More than one third of those asked said they would not run to catch a bus. Worryingly, of 654 respondents(被调查对象) with children, 64% said they were often too tired to play with them.

We know that it's no wonder that one in six children in the UK are very fat before they start school.

Dr Sarah, Dauncey, medical director of the centre, said, "People need to get fitter, not just for their own health, but for their families, friends and pets, too"

"If we don't start to take control of this problem, a whole generation will become too unfit to perform even the most basic tasks."

And Scotland's largest city, Glasgow, was shamed as the laziest city in the UK, with 75% asked thinking they do not get enough exercise, followed by Birmingham and Southampton, both with 67%.

So there are some problems for the National Health Service, where fatness-related(相关的) illnesses such as heart disease and cancer have been on an increase for the past 40 years and are costing billions of pounds every year.

(1)The underlined word "quizzed" in Paragraph 3 means ______. (1)

(3)Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage? (3)
A . All the adults in the UK are very lazy. B . Half of the children are very fat before they go to school. C . Pets will be in trouble if their owners don't keep healthy. D . All people in Glasgow feel ashamed because they don't get enough exercise.
(4)From the last paragraph, we can learn _____ if they keep lazy. (4)

Are people less happy or happier when they get older? If you answer is "happier", then you are right, based on a study published five years ago. It found that people generally become happier and experience less worry after age fifty. In fact, it found that by the age of eighty-five, people are happier with their life than they were at eighteen.

The findings came from a Gallup survey of more than three hundred and forty thousand adults in the United States in 2008. At that time, the people were between the ages of eighteen and eighty-five.

Arthur stone in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science at Stony Brook University in New York led the study. His team found that levels of stress were the highest among adults between the ages of twenty-two and twenty-five. Stress levels dropped sharply after people reached their fifties.

Levels of happiness were the highest among the kids and those in their early seventies.

The survey also found that men and women have similar emotional patterns as they grow older. However, women at all ages reported more sadness, stress and worry than men did.

So why would happiness increase with age? One theory is that, as people get older, they become more thankful for what they have and have better control of their emotions. They also spend less time thinking about bad experiences.

A . Relationship between man and woman. B . Happiness increase with age. C . Relationship between age and happiness. D . People become more thankful when they are older

A . People generally become happier and experience less worry after age fifty. B . People are happier with their life than they were at eighty—five. C . Street levels dropped sharply after people reached their fifties. D . Women at all ages reported more sadness, stress and worry than men did.
(4)Why would happiness increase with age? (4)
A . Because old people have no emotion. B . Because when people get older, they become more beautiful. C .
