Blood type O is the most common around the world. Blood type A is the second most common, and type AB is the least common. If people with type A blood are given type B blood, or people with type B are given type A blood, they will probably die.

He said that people with type A blood are usually calm and serious; people with type B blood are curious, cheerful and outgoing; and people with type O blood are generous and honest; while those with type AB blood are often caring, original and careful.

More recently, a doctor in the United States wrote a book that links blood types and what people cat. For example, his book suggests people with type O blood should cat more meat and less bread A diet for people with type A blood includes more vegetables His book, Eat Right for Your Type, has been a hit with people who want to lose weight.     Where in the world can you take aft hour's train ride, and pass a forest, a London street, a scene from the Wild West, and a burning building that never burns down? There's only one place, and that's Hollywood, in California The scenes you see from the tourist train are film sets(布景)in the Universal Studios, one of the oldest and largest movie companies in the USA.

A visit to Universal Studios brings back memories of great days of Hollywood, the films and the stars. But they are only memories Hollywood isn't quite the same as it used to be Costs have gone up and confidence has gone down. Movie-makers are afraid to spend their money on expensive new ideas. Instead, they repeat old ones.

The film industry is changing fast. Teenagers still go out to the movies. The theatre is a good place to meet friends away from home. But older people mostly stay at home to watch series, like Dynasty, which have become as important to Hollywood as expensive movies. These "soap operas", as they are called, show rich, powerful families living in beautiful homes and wearing beautiful clothes. But the actors and actresses are nearly all middle·aged, like many of the people who watch them.

Though it is soap operas that are keeping the film-makers of Hollywood in business, big films are still being made in America. But more and more of them are made outside Hollywood. New York is tile most important new center, but there are many others as well. Movie-makers have realized that they don't need Hollywood any more Modem cameras and real houses instead of expensively made copies in a studio Other states, especially Florida and Texas, are working hard to take the film business away from California They are offering better working conditions and lower cost.

But Hollywood is fighting back. The state of California is trying hard to keep its best-known industry.

(1)From the passage, we know Universal Studios is         . (1)
A . a very large park B . a busy London street C . a famous movie company D . an old Hollywood movie
(2)Why is the movie industry in California not as successful as before? (2)
A . Because soap operas can't be made in Hollywood. B . Because there is strong competition from other states. C . Because its movie companies are in need of young stars. D . Because young people don't go to movie theatres any more.
(3)Which of the following seems to be a threat (威胁l)to Hollywood? (3)
A . The expensively made copies of scenes. B . The making of TV series like Dynasty. C . The interest of middle-aged film stars. D . The use of modem cameras and other equipment.
(4)What can we learn about "soap operas" from the passage? (4)
A . They are less attractive.     B . They are teenagers' favorite. C . They are much more expensive. D . They are cheaper and easier to make.

二、任务型阅读(共1小题)

1、阅读下面短文。请从A—F选项中选出符合各段(第31—35题)意思的最佳小标题选项。选项中有一项是多余选项。

A

Talk to people.

D

Try to be interesting.

B

Keep in touch.

E

Join an organization or a club.

C

Be a good listener.

F

Ask people out for lunch or coffee.

Meeting new people and making friends can be overwhelming, but with a little effort and willingness to step outside of your comfort zone, you can easily make friends. Here are some good ways to make friends.

This is a great way to find other people who have common interests. If you enjoy something, try searching for a place where you can meet people who share that interest. If you play instruments or sing try joining a band or choir. 1fyou are good at sports, join a sports team.

You can go to school, join a club, or go to church, but you still won't make friends if you don't actually talk to people. Any time you talk to someone, you have a chance at making a lasting friend You can talk to anybody:the clerk at tile video store, tile person sitting next to you on public transit, or the person in front of you in the lunch line. Don't be too picky.

That will give you a better opportunity to talk and get to know each other a little bit better. Invite them to join you for lunch or coffee sometimes and give them your email address or phone number. This gives the person the opportunity to contact(联系) you;they may or may not give you their information in return, but that's fine.

Many people think that interesting people are easy to make friends. Far more important than this, however, is the ability to show that you're interested in others Listen carefully to what people say, remember important details about them(their names, their likes and dislikes), ask questions about their interests, and just take the time to learn more about them.

Many people lose contact with their friends because they're either too busy, or just don't value their friends enough. When you lose connection with a friend, tile friendship may fizzle out. And when you do try to contact them again, it can be hard to gain the friendship again.
