Shanghai, on the east coast of China, is the biggest city in the country. Its population is 23 million. Shanghai is on the Huangpu River. There are many beautiful parks, like the Yu Yuan Garden. Pudong is the new part of Shanghai, with lots of tall buildings, like the 468-metre-high Oriental Pear Tower. Putuoshan is a small island in the East China Sea near Shanghai.

    Dianshanhu Lake is in the Qingpu District, in the western part of Shanghai. It is bigger than West Lake in Hangzhou. It is also popular with tourists. Behind it is the old town of Zhujiajiao. There is a high hill in this old town, called North Hill. There are 36 very old bridges across the rivers here. It is a very interesting place to visit.

    Mr Gao lives in a town. When he was twenty-five, his son was born. He called him Gao Ling. The little boy is very clever and his parents love him very much.

    It's September 1 today. A new school year begins. Gao Ling is happy and wears his most beautiful clothes. He's going to school with his new bag.

    "Let me take you to school today, dear," says Mrs Gao.

    "Thank you, Mum," says the boy. "The school is not far from here. I can walk there myself."

    At school a teacher meets the little boy and asks, "What's your name, my little friend?"

    "Gao Ling, sir," answers the boy.

    "How old are you?"

    "Six, sir."

    "What's your father's name?"

    "Gao Dalin, sir."

    "How old is he?"

    "He's six too, sir."

    "Oh," he says in surprise. "Is he as old as you?"

    "Yes, sir." says the boy. "He became a father at the time when I was born."

    Beijing is the capital of China. It is cold winter. It is about-15℃. It has strong wind in winter. And it hardly rains or snows. It's very dry. Beijing is famous for its places of interest. It's the centre and politics of China.

    Harbin is in the north of China. It's very cold in winter with the lowest temperature -30℃. Visitors need to wear warm clothes. It's very beautiful in winter at night because of the ice and snow. There is an Ice and Snow Festival every year.

    Sanya is in the south of China. It's in Hainan. In winter, it's still very warm. In the daytime, the average temperature is about 15℃. Sanya has beautiful beaches. Every year, lots of visitors come and visit Sanya, and Sanya is also famous for its fruit such as coconuts.

Last week we asked students at Guanghua High School about the best ways to learn more English.       Some students had more specific suggestions. Bruce Li, for example, said the best way to learn new words was reading English magazines.       When we asked about studying grammar, he said, “I never study grammar.      

    Wei Ming feels differently. He has been learning English for six years and loves it a lot.       He also thinks that watching English movies isn't a bad way because he can watch the actors say the words.

    Liu Chang said that joining the English Club at school was the best way to improve her English .      And they also have fun.

    When most people talk about Ireland, they immediately think        the beautiful sights in the south. But today I am going to tell you       you should go to my home country, Northern Ireland.

    Belfast is the       city of Northern Ireland. There is something for everyone to do. If you like history, you can go to the Titanic Quarter and visit Titanic Museum. Belfast is       becoming popular for its nightlife, and during the summer, Belfast has two music festivals--Belsonic and Belfast Vital.

    Everyone knows Game of Thrones(《权力的游戏》)，       not many people know that a lot of TV shows were filmed in Northern Ireland. It has given the country a great reputation(名声） and brought       of visitors here every year.

    It is often said that the Irish are the friendliest people in the world. I think it is true! We love to make       and we often give others a warm welcome. When you are       in Belfast or in the rest of the country, it is not       for you to find someone to help you.
