    The Hanging Gardens of Babylon

    The garden sat on a hill. It was a large and wonderful structure（建筑物）. Many parts of the garden were high up on large columns（支柱）. There were many big and green trees with lovely flowers. Although there are many different ideas about the garden, we are not sure whether this wonder ever existed（存在）!

    TheLighthouse of Alexandria

    The Lighthouse of Alexandria was designed about 2,000 years ago. It was in Egypt, too. It was one of the ancient wonders of the world, about 135 metres high. It was once the highest building in the world. Although it doesn't exist now, many people come to see its relic（遗址）every year.

    Almost every child likes sweet things, such as candies, chocolate, ice cream and desserts. But do you know there is a holiday called Sweetest Day in the USA? Does it mean people can eat lots of sweet on that day?

    Sweetest Day is a popular holiday for Americans. People celebrate it on the third Saturday in October. On that day, people show their love to the elderly, children, their good friends or anyone else they want to help. Orphans(孤儿) and patients can also enjoy people's greetings. In fact, anyone may get a gift on that day. It's just a day that offers people a chance to show their love and care to others.

    How did the holiday originate? Here is a story. In 1922, a very kind man in Cleverland, a city in Ohio of America, thought that many poor people in the city needed care from others. He wanted them to be happy and he hoped they would find people always remembered them and cared about them. So he gave them boxes of sweets or small gifts to show his love. He also asked his friends and neighbors to help him do these things. Many people thought it was a great idea. After that, more and more people in Cleverland began to do things like him every year. Gradually(逐渐地) it became a popular holiday for lots of Americans.

    Heroes come in all shapes and sizes. Many heroes are not even human, such as dogs, horses and cats. They are so brave and helpful that human beings are proud of them, too. Lucca, a 12-year-old dog, is a great animal hero. She is a retired US Marine Corps dog. On April 5, 2016 she received the Dickin Medal from PDSA in London, England. And PDSA will provide free medical care for the sick and wounded animals in need. The Dickin Medal was founded in 1943 by Maria Dickin. The Medal is the highest prize for animals working in wars in the world.

    Lucca is the first U.S. Marine Corps dog to receive the medal. As a search dog, Lucca's work was dangerous. She was trained to find hidden weapons and explosive devices. According to the US Marine Corps, Lucca protected the lives of thousands of soldiers, and no soldiers were killed while she was going around. She completed over 400 dangerous pieces of work during six years in Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2012, she lost her front left leg in an explosion while working in Afghanistan.

    Lucca is the 66^th animal to receive the Dickin Medal. 30 dogs (including Lucca) have got the Medal as well as 32 World War II messenger pigeons, three horses and one cat.

    Yu Min is a famous Chinese nuclear physicist. He was born in Tianjin in 1926. When he was in high school, he was an excellent student. Later, he studied in Peking University.

    In 1951, he became a researcher and began to study nuclear physics. In 1965, he started to work at the 9^th Research Institute. He solved a lot of problems of the hydrogen bomb. His research helped China test the first hydrogen bomb successfully in 1967, just three years after China's first successful atomic bomb test. Since the 1970s, Yu Min has been a pioneer of many research projects. However, his name remained the top secret of China until 1988. ______.

    Yu Min is called "the father of China's hydrogen bomb". "Whenever the nation needs me, I'll do my best," Yu Min says. Because of his hard work, Yu Min has won the National Scientific

    Progress Prize three times. He became a national labor model. He got the Guanghua Special Prize in 1992. In January, 2015, he received the State Preeminent Science and Technology Award for 2014 from Chinese President Xi Jinping. The award itself includes a prize of five million yuan. He used almost 4.5 million yuan for the future scientific research.

    Americans love to drive on their holidays. Usually, the family gets into a car or recreational vehicle(RV，旅行房车) and drives for a summertime trip across the country.

    RVs are like our houses. There are kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms in RVs. They are big, but can be very small when you share a bed with your little brother or try to play a game.

    They can often see a real-life Spider-Man handing out(分发) food to the homeless(无家可归的) in the streets. The Spider-Man is a young man       Warwickshire, a county(郡) in the West Midlands of England. The 20-year-old man also      (like) the hero very much. What's more, he wants to do some good things just like the superhero.

    The kind man doesn't want to show people his real face and name. He wants people to pay more       to the hard life of the poor and the homeless.
