When I was a middle school student in 1980, God gave me a gif-it was happiness.
One weekend, I went to visit my grandparents in the countryside. On my way home, a car ran over me and cut off my 1 because it was too fast. Several days later when I woke up at the hospital, I realized I had to spend the rest of my life—without arms. How sad and scared I was at that time! But slowly I knew I had to face the fact and 2 it. I couldn't get my arms back even though I cried every day.
However, it's 3 said than done. It took me about half a year to get out of the sadness 4. I got so much from my past story. From then on, I could treat my life with a normal mind. But in our daily life, I often see my classmates get 5about little things. For example, they get bad grades in the test; their bus comes late; they don't have a mobile phone but 6do. But I only enjoy life. I was lucky to realize from an accident; it is a waste of our life to focus on(关注)what you have 7. We should always think of what we have. So why are so many people unhappy? Someone may say, “My whole life would improve 8. I have a new car.” But when you get the car and what happens? For a whole week you are so 9. Then you go right back to being unhappy.
Happiness 10what we have! It's in our heart. It's a state of mind. Someone owns many, but may still feel unhappy. Happiness comes from mastering the art of appreciating(感激)and taking pleasure in what you really have.

Many years ago, I was a shy boy and lived a very peaceful life. I liked school but I felt bored.
And then I started the fourth grade. My teacher, Mrs. Chen, was a young woman who was good at writing, art and music. Her class was very interesting. With her help, I started Fun Club with some boys in my class. I also wrote a book called Through the Forest. And lots of my classmates liked it.
However, I was surprised when fifty years later I got a letter about a reunion (聚会). A few days later, we had a reunion at Mrs. Chen's home. Reconnecting with Mrs. Chen was a journey back in time. Fifty years have passed, but my teacher still remembers every student. She even doesn't forget the class bully (欺负) — a boy used to hit me with snowballs on my way to school. Lots of teachers thought bullying was nothing serious at that time, but Mrs. Chen didn't agree. She put a stop to it at once when she found out about it.
Now, in my mid-fifties, I appreciate the gifts Mrs. Chen has given me even more. It's never too late to say thanks to this fantastic teacher. I hope you are lucky enough to have one teacher like Mrs. Chen.
Imagine this. You come back from school and your robot housekeeper is already waiting for you at the door. He turns on the lights, air-conditioner and television. While you are having dinner, he cleans the floor. Before you go to sleep, he tells you the weather report, then reads you a bedtime story.
Such thoughts are not just for stories. Now they can happen in the real world, as long as you have the robot Alpha 2. Alpha 2 was a star at the 2017 World Robot Conference(大会), which was held from August 23rd to 27th in Beijing. More than 150 universities and companies from across the world brought their robots to the event for show and sale. Some robots work in factories. Some robots go to outer space or under water for exploration. But the highlights(亮点)of the event were service robots.
This kind of robot is the closest to our daily lives. From cleaning to teaching, music to sports, service robots have been used to do many kinds of jobs.
Teo is a popular service robot, as well as an artist and music teacher. His 53 fingers help him play the piano well. He played John Lennon's song Imagine at the conference.
There is another service robot called Bestic. It acts as a human arm to feed people with a spoon. It can be a good helper for little kids, the elderly and those with difficulties using their hands.
The scientists believe that it may not be far when every family has at least one service robot.
One day, a baby snail(蜗牛) found that he had to carry a big and heavy shell(壳) at any time. He was confused(困惑的), so he went up to his mother and asked, “ Why was I born with a shell that grew so hard and heavy?” His mother said, “Because we don't have bones(骨头) to hold us up. We can only move slowly, so we need a shell to protect us.”
The baby snail asked again, “The caterpillar(毛毛虫) has no bones, either, and she can't move quickly. Why can she live without a shell?” The mother snail answered, “That's because a caterpillar will become a butterfly. She can fly high into the sky. The sky can protect her.”
The baby snail had one more question, “But the earthworm(蚯蚓) moves like us. He has no bones and he won't turn into a butterfly. Why doesn't he carry a hard and heavy shell?” His mother said, “He can dig a hole and hide in the ground, and then the earth can protect him.”
The baby snail then cried, “We are so poor! We have no protection from the sky or from the ground!” His mother smiled at him, “That's why we have a shell. My dear, imagine that if we don't have the shells, what will happen to us? Hot sun will dry out our bodies and we'll have nowhere to sleep. What's worse, we'll die in the heavy rain. How terrible it is! We don't depend on the sky or the ground for protection. We should depend on ourselves.”
