After thirty years in the classroom, I have come to realize that teacher's behavior can make a world of difference for a child. This is one such1.

    While I was attending a party being2at a high school one evening, I looked around and noticed a young girl who looks a little familiar. I thought she had been a 3of mine. I tried to remember her name but I couldn't. I didn't feel 4 with myself, as I have always been able to5 the students that I knew in the past.

    Her eyes met mine and she threw her 6 around me and said, “Mrs. G, it's me, Sarah, and I'm still writing!” The memories 7 . I felt something different in my heart. You see, Sarah was 8 a student in my classroom. Sarah's mother had gone to a big city and had remarried. And her father had 9 her. She was sent to live with her grandparents the year I met her.     These days, more and more Chinese people enjoy sending and receiving messages on the phone. It can help them to get the latest news and communicate with friends. But I think I should read more books besides the textbooks, the more, the better. It can broaden(拓宽) my mind and improve my language skills. Of course, it also can help me to get good grades.     ◆ Clear your purpose for reading

    Before you start reading, ask yourself why you are reading this book. Most people read for two main reasons, pleasure or knowledge. Clearing about your reading purpose can not only help you choose the books you really need to read, but also remind you why reading the book is important to you, so you will keep reading and complete the book faster.

    ◆ Read only what you are interested in

    No matter what you are reading, it is important to enjoy what you read. Your friends may tell you the books they love, but those books might not necessarily be the ones you enjoy.

    ◆ Give up books that you don't enjoy

    You may have chosen books that you are interested in, and they are right to your purpose. But while you are reading them, there may still be some books that you don't enjoy reading. Whenever you realize that you aren't enjoying the book you are reading, give it up. Remember reading shouldn't be a chore.

    It is interesting that I read the books borrowed from libraries faster than those I bought. The reason is the books I bought don't have a due date! I don't need to return those books. MySpace, the social networking website, is different from other websites which only provide stories about other people. MySpace is a place that allows you to broadcast your own stories and personal information to as many people as you like. Started two years ago, it is a big source of information for and about American kids.

    Teenagers and their parents feel very different about it. Teens are rushing to join the site, not sharing their parents' worries. It signals yet another generation gap in the digital times.

    For teenagers, it is a reliable(可信赖的) network to keep in touch with their friends. They will often list their names, birthdays, after – school jobs, school clubs, hobbies and other personal information.　　

     “MySpace is an easy way to reach just about everyone. I don't have all the phone numbers of my acquaintances. But if I want to get in touch with one of them, I could just leave them a message on MySpace,” said Abby Van Wassen.     Parents on the other hand are seriously worried about the safe problems of MySpace.

     “ Every time we hold a parents' meeting, the first question is always about My Space,” said Kent Gates, who travels the country doing Internet safety seminars (研讨会). The National Centre for Missing Children has received at least 288 MySpace – related complaints（相关投诉）, according to Mary Beth Buchanan, a lawyer in Pittsburgh.

     “Your profile on MySpace shows all your personal information to anyone on the Web. And MySpace even lists this information by birthplace and age. It's like a free checklist for trouble – makers and it endangers children,” Buchanan said.

    Have you ever heard of it? Does shopping with cash(现金)really help you lose weight? Some scientists have studied for years. The US scientists have      (发现) that customers who take debit cards(借记卡)to the shops and      (忘)their cash at home are more likely to take junk food from the      (架子).     When you are travelling by plane, there are some passengers you just don't want to have next to you.
