What is “American food”？To many people， American food means hamburgers, hot dogs, and fried chicken. However, are those only kinds of food in the US?

American culture is a good example of the saying: You are what you eat. The different kinds of food show the different kinds of personal taste. Anyway, it's all-American.

It was the Peter shopkeeper in New York who taught me about the great power of kindness.

At that time I was a poor student. I would work early mornings and the late nights to pay for my studies.

On the day I went to that shop for the first time. I was sick with a very high fever. I had been off work for a few days, and I had run out of food. As I had been so busy working, I hardly had friends nearby who could help.

So I went out to get some food. Usually, I would have gone to the supermarket, but because it was closer, I went into the Peter Shop. I picked up a few items, and then handed them to the shopkeeper, who told me, “Girl, you are unwell.” I nodded.

He pointed at the sausage (香肠) and bread I was buying and offered, “l can make you a sandwich, so you don't have to do it yourself.” So, he made the sandwich and asked me to wait a moment. He went in the back room and reappeared with a bowl of hot soup. “It will warm you up,” he said with a gentle smile.

What really warmed me up, though, was not the soup. It was his smile. His kindness made me feel cared for at a point in life when I was particularly lonely. It made me want to be as kind as the shopkeeper who had been kind to me. I had been quite shy, but from that day on, I did not let shyness stop me from performing kindness.

Europe is a great place to explore. There are so many amazing places to visit, so make sure you do it right. Here are a few dos which I have learnt during my travels around Europe.

*       DO make sure you save up enough money beforehand. Some people may want to earn money while they're travelling but you have to know that it's impossible to get enough impossible to pay for your trip by doing so, so make sure that you have enough money before you go!

*       DO try to find the best way of transport. From my experience, I have learnt that the more uncomfortable the journey is, the cheaper it is. For example, a seven-hour bus ride through the night costs much less than a half-an-hour flight. So it's up to you to decide whether it's worth it!

*       DO spend time choosing your hotels. Take time to make sure that you've chosen the best place to stay. Believe me! There are so many different choices in Europe ... from campsites to hotels, B&Bs (bed and breakfast)... For instance, if you5 re looking for lots of partying and nightlife, a family B&B is not for you.

*       DO make sure that you'll remember the experience forever! Take pictures and videos, buy postcards and souvenirs, and write a journal... It's always so nice to look back on your time travelling at a later date to refresh your memory and it can also be so much fun to make memories by taking pictures and writing along the way.

Probably much longer than you think.

In 1992, the University of Michigan's Health and Retirement Study asked 26,000 Americans over the age of 50 the chance of living to the age of 75. Now, researchers at the Brookings Institution checked the results to see if they were right.

In 1992, seven percent of respondents (应答者) gave themselves “zero” chance to reach 75. But in fact, nearly half lived to 75 or longer. Is it amazing?

Among respondents who gave themselves a 50 percent chance of living to 75, 75 percent lived to that age or longer.

And among those who said they were completely certain of living to the age of 75, nearly 8 in 10 did.

“In general, people wildly underestimate (低估) their chances of reaching 75, but you in fact can live longer than you think,” a researcher wrote on the blog. You'll probably live much longer than you think. Life expectancy (预期寿命) in the United States was 78.74 years in 2012, according to World Bank data, and 71 years worldwide.

"There is no clear relationship between how long people think they'll live and how long they actually do. We don5t know the reason of file results. Maybe people's life quality changes a lot but they don't realize,” the researcher said. In fact, respondents who gave themselves a 10 percent chance of living to 75 had at least a 60 percent chance of doing so.
