Coming Across Aliens(外星人 )

    It was a fine night. Carl was on his way home from his friend's party.

    While Carl was walking along the path near his house, he saw a 1 in the sky. It landed on the road at once. Three aliens came out. Carl was 2, because he could understand their language. He learned that they had decided to take all the 3 out of the city.

    Carl was worried about this. He called his friends quickly. While he was 4 for them, he looked at the aliens. They pointed at a tree, and then the tree, like a bird, flew quickly 5 the UFO. One by one, many trees flew away. Soon Carl's friends arrived. They asked them to stop, but 6 didn't work. Then Mr. Bright, a police officer, came. He  7 at the aliens, but it still didn't work. One of the aliens pointed at Mr. Bright. Mr. Bright became very small. Everyone was 8 with the aliens. Carl's friend Bill ran to them. He shouted at them in a big 9. To their surprise, the aliens turned away in no time and ran into their UFO. Then the UFO flew away.

    The alarm clock rang. Carl realized that he was lying in his bed. It was just a funny  10.

    Michael Jordan was born on February 17, 1963, in Brooklyn, New York. Jordan is the fourth of the five children in his family. His family moved to North Carolina when he was just a baby. As a young boy, his favourite sport was baseball, but he soon found that he could play basketball as well. At the age of 17, he began to show people just how talented he really was. Throughout his basketball career, Michael Jordan has won many scoring titles. Many boys and girls look up to Michael Jordan as their hero. Do you know he has a hero, too, when he was growing up? He looks up to his older brother, Larry. Michael Jordan, a basketball superstar, is not just a star on the basketball court. He also works hard to raise money for many children's charities. He encourages children to develop their talents by practice, practice, and practice!

    Ladies and gentlemen, I returned to this year in a time machine. In the year 2500, we are able to travel through time to any year in the history of the earth. This year is your last chance your lifestyle to save the earth.

    Beginning in the middle of the 20th century, a few people were worried about polluting the earth's water and air, but most people did not change their way of life. Instead, they continued to pour(倒) dangerous chemical(化学物品) and other waste into lakes and seas, to drive more and more cars and trucks, and to cut down trees.

By the year 2200, the earth's water was completely polluted. People could no longer drink water, and they had to use other types of liquids(液体). Scientists said that in the future there might be too many people on the earth. But not enough was done.

So by the year 2300, there were so many people that food became scarce. There was no water to grow food and all of the fish in lakes and seas died because of pollution. Terrible wars broke out between the rich and the poor. Scientists were working very hard to find another planet in space where humans could live.

By the year 2400, the air was too polluted for humans to breathe. So we had to leave the earth. But only the rich were able to leave. Where did we go? Nowhere. And everywhere. You see scientists did not find another safe planet, so now we must travel around the universe in our space ships. We are still looking for a place to call our home.

    So it is up to you to change history. There is still hope. You must change your lifestyle now, before it is too late.

If you could see a movie of your life before you lived it, would you want to live it? Probably not. The excitement of living is that you don't know what's coming.

    Sure, it's hard to see uncertainty(不确定 ) in such active light when you're out of work, or when you feel like you're failing. But uncertainty is really another word for chance.

    When Allison graduated from Harvard, she had chances all over the place but had no idea what she wanted to do. She took a job in consulting(咨询)，but she knew she wouldn't stay there. She took the GRE and scored so high that she was able to increase her income (收入) by teaching students. Still, she didn't think she wanted to go to graduate school(研究生院). Moments of uncertainty are when you create your life, and when you become who you are. Uncertainty usually begins with a job hunt, but it doesn't end there. Every new role we take on means another round of uncertainty. Instead of fearing it, you should find some ways to deal with uncertainty
