    I am a doctor. People often come to see me because they have colds or coughs. People also come to see me because they are sad or nervous. Sometimes      helps. Sometimes talking helps. But many doctors      that music can help people feel better. I asked a few of my patients how music helped them.

    Sometimes I was      when I was a child. My family said, "Play your feelings on the piano！" Sometimes I play a loud song on the piano. Soon I feel calm. I can laugh and cry through my      on the piano. It's natural for me. It's like breathing.

    In America, when people say "man's best friend", they don't mean another person. Instead, they are talking about a lovely animal—a dog！These words show the friendship(友谊)between people and animals. Dogs and other pets can give joy to people's lives. Some people think of their pets as their children.

    Some people even leave all their money to their pets when they die！Animals can help people, too. Dogs can be taught to be the "eyes" for a blind person or "ears" for a deaf person. Scientists have found that pets help people live longer！They make people happier, too. Because of that, they bring animals into hospitals for "visits".

    Americans hold "Be Kind to Animals Week" in the first week of May. Pet shows are held during the week. Even if you don't live in America, you, too, can do this.

    How？First think about how animals make your life richer. If you have a pet, take more time this week to play with it. Remember to give it delicious food.

    If you don't have a pet, be kind to animals around you. For example, if you see a street dog, just leave it alone, or make friends with it. If others around you do bad things to animals, try to speak up. As people, we must protect(保护)animals who can't speak for themselves.

    Each of us makes mistakes from time to time. In fact, we can get a lot from our mistakes.

    Donnie was a shy student and never answered questions in class. He was1to make mistakes. He never finished his homework s：2he didn't want to make any mistakes. Nothing changed until Marry Anne, a teacher, came to our class.

    One morning, Marry Anne asked Donnie to ask some questions. After a while Donnie was in tears because he made a mistake.3Marry Anne got a box full of erasers from the desk.

    "Look, Donnie," she said standing4him. "I've got something to show you." She took out the erasers, one at a time, and put them on the desk.

    "See these erasers, Donnie?" she continued," Do you know5the erasers become smaller and smaller? That's because we make mistakes. But we erase the mistakes and try 6. That's what you must learn."

    "Here," she said," I'll leave one eraser on your desk, so you will remember that everybody may make mistakes." Donnie looked at Marry Anne and smiled.

    Donnie changed a lot from then on. He knew that everyone had the permission to make mistakes as long as you learned them and tried again.

    I would like to live in the city.

    There are wonderful things about living in the city. There are some sidewalks:人行道:, so I won't get h      when I go across the street. I      I'm hungry, I don't have to wait because the restaurants are very n      . The libraries are so good. I love to go there to read with my friends. In the afternoon I like to go to the park to take a walk. The air is fresh and many children play there. There are also lots of stores. They sell many k      of things in the city. I can go and have fun there.

    There are bad things about a city too. There is too much noise from all the cars and buses. It's too noisy. And the traffic is heavy in the city. Sometimes it t      me too much time to get to school and makes me late. There are also too many people in the city and shopping centres are always c      .

    Although(尽管)there are bad things about living in the modern city, I still p      to live there.

    Tom was driving home from the station in his car yesterday evening when he had an accident. He was driving along a main road at 50 kilometres an hour when another car came out of a side road and hit his. There was a lot of damage to both cars, and both Tom and the other man, Mr Brown, were hurt. One of Tom's arms was broken, and Mr Brown had a bad cut on his head.

    Another car was following Tom's. It stopped quickly and a man and a woman got out of it. They ran to the damaged cars and pulled Tom and Mr Brown out of their cars because they thought, "Perhaps the gas in those cars will catch fire and burn the two men."

    The man and the woman had some cotton and bandages（绷带）in their car, so they put them on the cuts on Tom's arm and on Mr Brown's head. Then they telephoned a doctor and the police. Soon a car arrived and took the two men to hospital. Two policemen also arrived and began to measure things. Finally, a truck came and pulled the two cars off the road.
