    These deaths are not limited to the USA. In China, many people die from the flu each year 10. An elderly man in Beijing died from the flu this season,11led to a wide discussion online. The man's family didn't know how serious the flu was, just like many12who don't understand the flu very well.

What can you do to keep the flu away? Hygiene is important— take a shower every day and wash your hands often. Do not spend time around people13have the flu. And if you can, get a flu vaccine this is a type of special medicine that can help prevent the flu. All of these things can keep you14during flu season. If you are stick with the flu, stay home15spreading it to others.

    Gift-giving is an important part of all human societies. Gift can express how we feel, but they can also pass on messages that we don't plan to give, so gift-giving etiquette (礼节) in my culture should be dealt with1.

    In some cultures that think highly of gift-giving, there is a ritual (仪式) in the giving and receiving of gifts. In Japan, for example, gift are both presented and received using both hands. The giver says something like "It isn't much,2I wanted to show my appreciation." The receiver of the gift will 3  once or twice, but the giver will insist. Then the receiver will 4 the gift and put it away to be opened later.

    The 5 of gifts is important, naturally, and in some cultures it is easy to offend (冒犯) a person by giving the 6gift. The givers of gift must consider the symbols of them, for example, a gift of a knife or letter opener in Brazil might be seen as symbolizing the ending of a relationship.

    The relationship between the giver and the receiver of a gift also can tell us what kind of gift is 7. For example, in the United States, gifts such as perfume are only given to women by boyfriends or husbands. If a friend were to give such a gift, it might be considered 8 .

    A group of swans flew down to a beach where a crow (乌鸦) was jumping around. The crow watched them with disdain (鄙视).

    "You have no flying skills at all!" he said to the swans. "All you can do is to move your wings. Can you turn over in the air? No, that's beyond you. Let's have a flying competition. I'll show you what real flying is!"

    One of the swans, a strong young male, took up the challenge. The crow flew up and began to show his skills. He flew in circles, performed other flying tricks, and then came down and looked proudly at the swan.

    Now it was the swan's turn. He flew up, and began flying over the sea. The crow flew after him, making all kinds of comments (评价) about his flying. They flew on and on till they couldn't see the land and there was nothing but water on all sides. The crow was making fewer and fewer comments. He was now so exhausted that he found it hard to stay in the air, and had to struggle to keep himself from falling into the water.

    The swan pretended not to notice, and said, "Why do you keep touching the water, brother? Is that another trick?"

    "No," said the crow. He knew he had lost the competition. "I'm in trouble because of my pride! If you don't help me, I'll lose my life…"

    The swan took pity on him, and took him on his shoulders and flew back to the beach.

    Chinese singer Zhou Shen, 27, has become more popular after appearing on the TV show Singer 《歌手》. He impressed viewers not only with his unusual recording methods – he has performed in his bedroom twice due to the novel coronavirus outbreak – but also with his singing itself.

     Zhou performed different styles of singing on the show. He covered a song by popular virtual (虚拟的) singers Luo Tianyi and Yan He, as well as sang songs with Suzhou Pingtan and Russian elements (元素).

    Singer Gao Xiaosong said Zhou has "come out of the cocoon (茧) and become a butterfly". It has taken Zhou a long time to do so.

    Zhou loved singing when he was a little boy. However, his voice didn't change like other boys during puberty (青春期). It still sounded like a girl's voice – thin and high. His peers (同龄人) laughed at him and he refused to sing in public. "I sang in my bedroom secretly," he said.

    At 17, he sang online without showing his face. Some people were fascinated (着迷) by it. On one of his birthdays, he agreed to show his face. However, when they found out that he was male, some of them made fun of him. Zhou felt bad about this, but later he got the chance to sing the theme song to the movie Big Fish and Begonia 《大鱼海棠》, which turned out to be a big success.

    After that, Zhou appeared on several TV talent shows. In his own words, "it was to give my voice a chance." He even wore women's clothes on the show Masked Singer. "It wasn't hype (炒作)," he said. "I just want the audience to focus on my singing rather than my gender (性别)."

    China is a nation with a rich culture in handwriting. "Even though the computer is widely used today, Chinese people should not forget the skill of writing with hands," said a Chinese government official (官员).

    Nowadays, the computer has become a very useful tool to help people to write. As people use computers more often than before, many people have forgotten how to write Chinese characters (字). People often make a lot of mistakes in writing.

    At present, China is trying to help pupils and teachers to improve their writing with the help of information technology. With the technology, it is hoped that teachers can write their teaching contents (内容) on the blackboard and students can respond by writing, too.

    The Chinese character test shows that nowadays, many college students' handwriting has become worse. Many college students do not know how to form words or sentences in Chinese character in the right way. Not only kids, many adults also have met the same problem. They might be able to tell the general form of a certain character. However, if you ask them to spell out the character in detail (详细地), they can't. On the other hand, they can easily type out the character on a computer.

    In the national language teaching course, we can solve this problem with the use of certain technologies. Actually, besides technology, there is a lot that we can do. For example, we may ask students to finish their homework by writing with hands instead of typing.

    China has a lot of intangible cultural heritages of humanity (人类非物质文化遗产). Here are four of them.
