They move around in the daytime, usually in groups of as many as 100 to 200 heads, or 20 to 30 heads. They feed on fruits and young leaves of bamboos. But trees and bamboos are disappearing, so golden monkeys have less and less to eat.

Do you know how many pandas there are in the world? World Wildlife Fund (WWF) has spent four yours counting pandas in the world. It says there are 1,590 now. In the 1980s, there were only 1,100.
So we may say that pandas are lucky because people around the world love them and are trying their best to help them. However, we also say that pandas are unlucky because they are still facing a lot of problems now.
Pandas are not good at making babies. Even in the wild, scientists have found that female pandas give birth only every 28 months. That's why the number of pandas goes up so slowly.
Pandas need bamboos for food, but bamboo dies every 10 to 100 years. It can take up to 20 years to provide(提供) food for pandas. When bamboo dies, pandas have to move to other areas. In the past, this was easy. However, the number of people keeps growing, people cut down more forests and built more villages. It's more difficult for pandas to find bamboos and homes than before.
In the past years, WWF made great efforts to protect pandas. And some Chinese scientists are also always trying to find ways to help pandas.
The Milu deer is a kind of animal with large horns(角). They were very common in China long ago. They lived together and ate grass and the soft parts of trees. In the past, people did not protect the Milu deer and killed them for food or sport, so they disappeared(消失) from China .

Since they returned to China, their number has grown quickly .There are now so many of them that a new park has been opened for them in Hubei Province. Now the Milu deer live in the wildlife parks and have good protection. We hope that one day they can live in the wild again.
Bats are the only “flying animals” in the world. They can't see very well. We often hear “as blind as a bat”. Yet they have no trouble flying on the darkest nights and finding their ways round. How can bats fly and see at night? They fly by radar(雷达).
The bat's radar system(系统) works the same way as the radar in ships and planes. As a bat flies through the air, it makes a sound. If the sound hits things, it will come back and the bat's ears will receive the message. In this way the bat is able to know where the things are. Bats go out for food at night. In the daytime they hang in some dark places. Some people think bats are bad animals. In fact they are useful animals.
